My Story

Steven Stewart has been performing multiple genres of music professionally for two decades. Raised in Grayson County, KY, Stewart learned to play fiddle through the study of Bluegrass and Classical music. In 2008 he began in-depth studies in classical violin at Western Kentucky University, where in 2013, he obtained a Bachelor of the Arts in music and pursued his master's degree in violin pedagogy.

Having a background in both classical violin and traditional folk music has afforded Steven many opportunities and experiences. He has toured the eastern coast of the United States playing multiple styles of fiddle music, and toured internationally with The Symphony at WKU. No stranger to the stage, Stewart's past projects have also shared performances with artists such as The Nitty Gritty Dirt Band,  Darius Rucker, Marty Stuart, Tracy Lawrence, Confederate Railroad, Ricky Skaggs, Dan Tyminski, and Russell Moore & IIIrd Tyme Out, Sister Sadie and many others.

Stewart pulls influences from many artists throughout multiple genres. Some of these influences include Itzhak Perlman, Jascha Heifetz, Randy Howard, Kenny Baker, and Benny Thomasson. The fierce study of these and many more historic greats has afforded Stewart the ability to create his own unique sound, while maintaining a respect for the traditional sounds of each genre he has studied.

Recently, Steven has lent his talents as the manager of Kentucky Shine, an award winning bluegrass band that garnered some success between 2020 and 2025. During his time with Kentucky Shine he was awarded the 2023 Hollywood Independent Music Award for bluegrass song of the year for his song The Game. Currently, Steven is performing and touring with Blackford Creek serving as their fiddle player and background vocalist. In addition to his performing, Stewart is also a passionate teacher. Boasting successes in both fiddle and classical violin students, he now runs a private studio in Owensboro, Ky where he passes on his knowledge and passion for all music to his students.
